Amazon AWS SQS is a fully managed message queuing service that facilitates communication between distributed application components.

Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS) is a fully managed message queuing service that enables you to decouple and scale microservices, distributed systems, and serverless applications. The Amazon AWS SQS connector allows Swimlane Turbine users to automate the management of SQS queues and messages within their security workflows. By integrating with Amazon AWS SQS, users can efficiently create and configure queues, send messages, and manage queue attributes, enhancing the automation and scalability of their security operations.

## Prerequisites

Before you can use the Amazon AWS SQS connector for Turbine, you'll need access to the AWS API. This requires the following:

- AWS authentication using the following parameters:
  - Access Key ID: Your unique identifier for accessing AWS services.
  - Secret Key: The secret key associated with your AWS account for secure access.
  - Region Name: The specific AWS region where your SQS resources are located.

## Getting Started

Before you begin, ensure you meet the following prerequisites:

- You must have valid AWS access credentials (Access Key ID and Secret Access Key) associated with your AWS account.
- You must have a valid Role ARN (Amazon Resource Name) which your user can assume.
- You need to know the AWS region where your SQS queue is located.

## Capabilities

This connector has the following capabilities:

- Create Queue
- Send Message
- Set Queue Attributes

## Key Features

The Amazon SQS Connector offers a robust capability aimed at improving the efficiency of your messaging operations:

1. **Send Message to Queue:** Allows you to send a message to a specific SQS queue. This requires the URL of the SQS queue and the message body as inputs. You may optionally specify additional attributes such as delay seconds, message attributes, or message system attributes.

Please note that your ability to use this feature effectively may depend on the permissions and access rights tied to your AWS account. Always ensure that your account has sufficient privileges for the operations you wish to carry out.

In particular, to be able to send a message to an SQS queue, the IAM user or role should have the following permissions:

- `sqs:SendMessage`: Allows a user to send a message to a specific SQS queue.

It's essential to correctly set these permissions in the AWS IAM management console. If you're using a role, remember that you need to have the `sts:AssumeRole` permission and the role's trust policy should allow the user to assume the role.

## Additional Notes

- For **Set Queue Attributes** action, under the **Attributes** parameter, please pass the required input fields are per this API Docs shown [here](https://boto3.amazonaws.com/v1/documentation/api/1.26.93/reference/services/sqs/client/set_queue_attributes.html).
