# Introduction

This guide tells you how to authenticate the OpsGenie Alert API connector in Swimlane using API Key Authentication.

You will generate an API key in OpsGenie, collect the required values, and configure the connector asset in Swimlane Turbine.

# Prerequisites

## OpsGenie Access Requirements

You must have access to the OpsGenie console with permissions to:

- Generate or manage API integration keys
- Access the OpsGenie Alert API
- Manage alerts and integrations

## Required Credentials

During setup, you will collect:

- OpsGenie API Base URL
- API Key (GenieKey)

# Authentication Method Overview

The OpsGenie Alert API connector supports the following authentication method:

- API Key Authentication (Header-based using x-apikey)

# OpsGenie API Setup

Take the following steps to generate an API Key in OpsGenie:

1. Log in to the OpsGenie console at [https://app.opsgenie.com](https://app.opsgenie.com).
2. Click your profile icon and navigate to Settings.
3. Open the Integrations or API Key Management section.
4. Click Create API Key or Add New Integration Key.
5. Provide a name or description for the key.
6. Assign permissions for alert management if prompted.
7. Generate the API key.
8. Copy and securely store the API key (GenieKey).

# Connector Configuration in Swimlane

Take the following steps to configure the OpsGenie Alert API connector asset in Swimlane:

1\. Log in to **Turbine.**

2\. From the left-hand navigation pane, click **ORCHESTRATION** and click **Assets**.

3\. The Asset homepage opens.

4\. Click the** plus **icon to open the **Configure your Connector Asset** window.

5\. Select **Ops Genie Alert API **from the Asset type list.

6\. Fill in the **Asset Settings** and **Asset Input **as shown below.

7\. Click **Create.**

# Troubleshooting

If authentication fails:

- Ensure the API key is valid and active.
- Verify the API Base URL is correct.
- Confirm the x-apikey header is correctly configured.
- Ensure the API key has permissions to manage alerts.
- Check SSL verification settings and proxy configuration if applicable.
