# Introduction

This guide explains how to authenticate the Atlassian Confluence connector in Swimlane using the supported authentication methods. You will generate Confluence credentials, collect required identifiers, and configure the connector inside Swimlane Turbine.

# Prerequisites

## Confluence Access Requirements

You must have permissions to:

- Access your Atlassian Confluence instance
- Generate or retrieve a Confluence API token
- View your Confluence base URL

## Required Credentials

During setup, you will collect:

- Confluence Base URL
- Username or Email
- Password or API Token

# Authentication Methods Overview

## Confluence Authentication (Username and Password)

This method is typically used for on‑premise Confluence deployments. Authentication is performed using a Confluence username and password.

## API Key Authentication (Email and API Token)

This method is used for Atlassian Cloud deployments. Authentication is performed using an Atlassian account email address and API token.

# Confluence Setup

Take the following steps to generate an API Token (Cloud only):

1. Navigate to the Atlassian account security page.
2. Click Create API token.
3. Enter a label for the token.
4. Click Create.
5. Copy and save the generated token.

# Connector Configuration in Swimlane

1. Log in to Turbine.
2. From the left-hand navigation pane, click **ORCHESTRATION** and click **Assets**.
   Asset homepage opens.
3. Click the **plus** icon to open the Configure your Connector Asset window.
4. Select Microsoft Azure Sentinel from the Asset type list.
5. Fill in the **Asset Settings **and **Asset Input** as shown:

## Configuration – Confluence Authentication

Authenticates using username and password.

Authenticates using email address and API token.
